Can I get a neck tattoo removed?
It’s on the side of my neck and is about 2 X 2 inches. I don’t have the money for the laser surgery so I was wondering If anyone knows a way to remove it. Even if i need to take a cheese grater to it I need to get it off so I can join the military. Any suggestions?
Its not derogatory. Its a Bird on the side of my neck and the recruiter told me that he couldnt get a waiver for it because of its location.
i tell u what
i knwo u might not have money to do the laser but that is the only way .. get a personal loan to do it.. or pay it off installment
other than that.. use makeup to cover it 9 which is not fot a long term )
just go to the laser place..

You can see your dermatologist. Unfortunately laser is the only way to remove it, cheese graters don’t work…sorry!

There’s new stuff on the market this year. It’s a tattoo removal balm called "Wrecking Ball". I’ve recently started hearing commercials on the radio for it.
BTW – You should check if they will actually make you have it removed to enter. Dependent on branch and your declared MOS, you may not have to. Getting ink after you’re already in is not allowed by the UCMJ, and it’s considered destruction of military property (you!).

if your removing because of some derogatory picture or a saying, you might consider tattooing it over in black if you have to or another tattoo that will cover it.

i find it hard to believe that you cant join the army because of a tat..watching cnn last night and this soldier firing his weapon has an almost full sleeve tat….

you can try this site, it looks like a cream that dissolves the ink. http://www.dermasal.com
I don’t know if it works though, I always thought lasers was the only way to remove a tattoo.

cheeze grater would be bad!! i’ve heard some people talking about using heavy grit sandpaper to rub the skin off, BY HAND NO POWER TOOLS, to get to the layer that has the ink in it… but you’ll probably have one UGLY scar on your neck and i’d not want to do it myself since you got all those blood vessels right next to the skin.
See if another branch of the military has a "slightly" less restrictive stance on tattoos. If i recall the rule its that it can’t show above your buttoned collar and past the cuffs of your sleeves.
